Very Summery

It's very rare for me to feature Jennifer Garner as an outfit inspiration cause she tends to wear trainers a lot and that's something that i don't like doing. But when i saw this picture of her, i immediately thought 'calm and collected summer'. Anyone who knows me would tell you i run away from shorts and mini skirts because i feel shy and awkward about showing my legs during the day, and i hate shaving my legs. But i think these loose casual pants make a good substitute for jeans during the hot summer days of Australia don't you think? I could easily pair this with a tank top or a short sleeve tee; finish off with a nice pedicure and thongs {flip flops}. Now can someone tell me where i can find something similar? A darker shade would be much appreciated.

On another note, my first exam is tomorrow morning at 9am, do wish me luck bloggers :)

Black

My skin and belts don't get along well. So about 99% of the time, i tend to wear my belt exactly how Victoria's worn hers in the picture above. The minute the buckle comes anywhere close to my navel, i start to get some weird skin reactions that still remains unexplained. I'm loving her black belt and i'll be on the hunt for something similar as i only one jean belt at the moment and its brown. A little more variety in that department wouldn't hurt :)

Side note: Can you guys let me know if this font is too small or if its readable? Thanks :)

Christmas Wishlist

(source)
Since i wrote this post on Sandra Bullock, i've been hallucinating on how i could achieve a similar look without having to wear leather pants because i'm not much of a leather fan. Well, here comes an e-mail from Net-a-Porter to my rescue! Actually, the e-mail was about trans-seasonal dressing, which is something i've already been doing for over 2 years. But when i clicked the link, these amazing pants by Anemone (pictured above) was among one of the products featured on the page and it absolutely caught my eye! It looks beautiful doesn't it? At £195.74 i think it is a chic replacement for those leather pants she wore! Now all i have to do is save up the money to get them, i'm thinking it would be an ideal christmas present to myself non? And this bracelet looks like a very nice addition to go with the planned ensemble...
I also got an e-mail today from InStyle Australia about the new issue hitting stands soon...why can't i ever wing out my eyeliner like they've done for Angelina Jolie on the cover? And why is it so difficult for me to find a nice pale pink lipstick/gloss/sheen/whatever that works well with my skintone? I refuse to give up, i'm still going to keep searching. I did find a lip gloss by Revlon that came close, i think it's called nude rose, but i'm not 100% satisfied with that. Couldn't check out the O.P.I nail bar yesterday cause it was pouring rain. Hopefully i'll have much better luck today

Is It Bad That...

[source]
...i'm very jealous? Of Reese Witherspoon? This woman always manages to look cute, cool and chic all at the same time without making too much effort. Ok, so maybe she put a lot of effort into it that we might not be aware of but when you see her stalkerazzi pictures she always looks like she just rolled out of bed and threw it on. She makes girlie look more grown up and mature than childish. I generally run away from florals and pink related clothes because i always feel like it makes me look girlie and childish; two things i do not necessarily want to be viewed as. Ok, so i'm a girl but what happened to using other phrases to describe females that have grown past their teen years eh? I'm no Paris Hilton so i certainly don't want people mistaking me for a cutesy kind of girl day in day out. I have no problem with being told i'm dressed cute if its once in a while, but when it becomes an everyday issue then i have problems with it. BUT, if i'm referred to as cute and chic on a daily basis, then i'd be very happy. Cute without the chic on a daily basis would hurt my emotions, chic without the cute is something i don't mind at all :)

LBD Love

I'd love to own something that looks like this. I just wish ASOS could make a humble replica of it and i'd be more than happy to buy it :) But if you know of any look-a-likes that are wallet friendly please do share
Update: ASOS has a belt that looks just like that in black and tan shades

Back & Forth

So, i've been going back and forth in my head about getting boots like these. I don't see them as something that i'd normally wear but whenever i see girls wearing them, i get really jealous and automatically start trying to convince myself to give it a try. So, i know i don't really have much of a style so that in itself should be more reason why i should get something similar right? Well, no! I still haven't summed up the courage to buy myself a pair. And the ones i've seen tend to be really hard and only have the strings in the front; but i like the fact that hers has some sort of buckle detail as well. Seeing this picture makes me a bit more convinced that i can wear it with a dress or jeans paired with a blazer; but i'm still on the fence about skirts. Any ideas? Pictures?

Bow Dress

Now this is more like it! It's not everyday Victoria Beckham wears a dress that i can see myself in, but this picture makes an absolute exception to that. It might seem like just a simple dress to some, but for me it is a miracle dress. You know why? Well, it's not too much of a flashy dress, it is girlie and can easily accommodate my amoebic tummy. I couldn't ask for more in a dress. And the fact that it would look just as gorgeous in heels as it will in flats is a bonus for me! I'm off to go find somewhere i can purchase something in a similar fashion on a student budget. Happy Wednesday y'all

How I'd Like To Wear A Shirt

from Justjared.com
I must admit that i do get a tad jealous when i see people wearing their shirts tucked into their skinnies because i love how it looks and i've always dreamed of wearing a shirt like that. I especially love it on girls with smaller boobies because it never looks like the twins are being suffocated in there. Ya know? But my tummy is always in the way of giving this a go ~_~

Bee Looks Cute

from Justjared.com
This has got to be one of those rare occasions where Beyonce's attempt to look cute actually works and i really like it. I like everything from the dress to her flats and those details on her purse. I'm wondering if the additions on her purse are from a diy job or if it actually came like that.

How Can I Make Something Similar?

from net-a-porter.com
I'm sure it's fairly obvious that i have no intentions whatsoever on actually purchasing this Balmain jacket. Now that we've cleared that up, i would like to know any creative ideas you guys might have so i can have a jacket that looks like this. Remember how i've been looking for my holy grail jacket that is trans-seasonal? Well, this jacket already fits the bid for something that i would want to own. So any ideas on how i can achieve this including the best materials, accessories etc is very much welcome :)

Made For Blake Lively

from ASOS.com
The minute i saw this Karen Millen dress, Blake Lively came to mind for all the reasons you can imagine. The model bears a somewhat resemblance to her, it's a great dress for her to show off her pins. At 165 pounds, it is a bit pricey but i love the metallic nature of the jacquard, what i don't like is the fact that it's dry clean only. Why do pricey dresses have to be dry clean only? What happened to the option of gentle handwashing? If you're interested in getting this for yourself then click here

Tayloring It

from Justjared.com
Despite all my attempts to dress age appropriate, i always manage to end up dressing up to 5 years older than i should be. As a friend put it: 'your conservative style is a bit on the older side, eventhough i'm 4 years older than you i couldn't imagine dressing in the same way as you as i feel it's too mature. Why don't you find a young version of conservative style?' I for one never knew my style was that conservative or oldish but now that i've been told, it's all i can think of. But i'm pretty sure what Taylor Swift is wearing here is very age appropriate non? I think at almost 23, i should still be able to pull it off, it's not pinky-puke cute that makes people look like they're trying to be children and end up getting carded wherever they go. Hence, this picture is going into my fashspiration archive so that when i finally get round to doing that makeover of mine, i'll have something to reference :)

Still Searching...

image from Tradekorea.com
I'm still searching for my holy grail jacket after almost a year spent looking for something that would be trans-seasonal. I personally hate having too many jackets because i know i never really get round to wearing them and i'm also known for not wearing most of my purchases when i first get them. For me, 2 or 3 jackets is plenty enough. One of them should be very dressy just in case an opportunity knocks on my door and it's freezing outside; the other should easily be able to see me through autumn and winter with only the need to layer in winter and the last one should be great for spring and summer. But the most important thing for all of my jackets is that they should be very versatile. If you've been reading for a while then you might be aware that i've been wanting to breathe in new life to my wardrobe but as a perpetual procrastinator, that hasn't really happened yet. Not only am i lazy about it, i haven't really found anything that i've fallen in love with. So here's to hoping that the magazines for April up till July will publish something that is jaw dropping and financially sensible to me so i can purchase it. But worst comes to worst, i'll do exactly what i did last winter - just wear cardis and long sleeves :)

Dye Job

By now you all know that the world has been plagued by the Balmania disease of 'shoulders'! I for one hate buying into trends because i never dress trendy and for me it's not really a good investment because they always go out of trend for a while. But the shoulder trend seems to be lasting longer than expected and a part of me is annoyed about it because i don't want to buy a jacket with shoulders but there always seems to be some sort of annoying temptation lurking in the corners awaiting me. It started with the military jacket at Dotti that has some gold beads and pipping on the shoulder and now River Island also has something to tempt me. Unfortunately i can't attach an image of the jacket but for those who are interested, type this in the search box and you should find it: 584774. I like to think that the shoulders aren't as obvious as other Balmania inspired jackets but everytime i think of this particular one from River Island, all i can think of is dyeing it another colour before wearing it. Definitely not black though, because i have a black blazer already. I'm not really a fan of white or cream items because i'm very clumsy and paranoid and i have no interest in shelling big bucks for a professional clean. All the 'dry clean' i owned in the past, i either hand washed them or used the gentle cycle in the wash and they always came out fine.

Essential Layering

I'm a real sucker for comfortable clothing and anything else that makes me feel in my element; i hate feeling constrained by my clothes or having to fake a smile because what i'm wearing is killing me. Although i've been in Australia for almost 2 years, i still haven't learnt to dress for each season nor has my love and interest in fashion translated to my wardrobe. My wardrobe is very bare; it looks like what a nomad might have, or maybe someone having a spring clean and getting rid of everything for a new start. My wardrobe has been like that for the length of time i've been in Australia and going on shopping bans hasn't really helped either. You'd think that all that money i saved would be put into boosting my wardrobe but i'm beginning to get worried that my saving bouts might be turning me into a stingy person. You see, my bank balance looks way too good right now that i feel a slight ache in my heart to alter it, but i also know that if my parents saw my closet they'd either never give me money or make me buy lots of clothes to fill it up. Just to let you in on how empty it is, i've only got 2 pairs of jeans [black skinny and blue relaxed flare], i've also got about 6 tops, 4 dresses and my lounge wear which sometimes doubles as a workout gear; i've owned these for over a year now.

With all this in mind, i'm making a huge effort to change and to stop disgracing my parents by boosting up my wardrobe slowly. If you've read magazines that had issues on makeovers, most fashion editors would always say start with the basics!!! And that's exactly what i plan on doing; the picture of Hilary Duff is very inspiring to me because it looks very relaxed and comfortable. But most importantly, it is trans-seasonal because as you're all aware fake Autumn starts in March. So as it gets cooler, it becomes more sensible for me to introduce leggings back into my look [not that summer stopped me attempting to wear them] and when it gets even cooler i could easily throw on a boyfriend cardigan or a blazer to keep warm! With these in mind, i plan on investing on a few longline tank tops that i can layer with and where better to find them than at Bassike? I absolutely love their essentials range that has layering singlets in white, grey marl and black retailing at $60 each

Barkins

Yesterday, i made a trip down to my local Barkins to see what they had to offer. For me the best part about barkins is their shoe collection as they have quite an ample lot to choose from at a very affordable price and i was impressed at what i saw yesterday and once my shopping ban is over, i plan on getting this pair of ankle boots for just $60. You see, i've always wanted to own a pair of ankle boots especially peep toes but most of the ones i've seen are either too expensive or really thin stilettos and i can't walk in stilettos neither am i willing to totally throw away my comfort for fashion. But this pair from Barkins is a great find because it is just $60 and although it is stilettos, it does have a platform base which should make it much more comfortable to wear.

Looking for?

...A pretty little white dress (LCD) to add to your array of clothes in your closet? Well, now you have a pretty option to try from Aqua Couture. I've noticed that most of their designs tend to stand out from the crowd - sometimes they aren't that pretty but i think this one is a looker. It would set you back £85 from ASOS.

Does This Look Familiar?

Remember Kate Hudson once wore a Roberto Cavalli dress that looks just like this? Well, now you can afford to look just like her by purchasing this Aqua Couture Mirror Maxi Dress from ASOS for £125.

Different Thoughts

Looking at this picture today made me realise that Marc Anthony has a 'uniform' that he wears for every single occasion be it an actual red carpet event or a 'fake' red carpet event like this one. Fake in the sense that they are actually attending a Miami Dolphins game. For me they always seem to be putting too much effort as it doesn't look natural. But let's talk about Jennifer's outfit. What do you guys think? At first i only noticed the belt because it stood out pretty odd from the rest of her outfit, maybe black ould have been a much better option? As for the print, i'm on the fence...

Simple...

When i first saw this picture of Nicole Richie, i was immediately drawn to two things: her scarf and the gold accents in her outfit. Her blazer's gold buttons matches the black shoulder bag that also has a gold zip running through it and the straps. This minor detail moves this ensemble from blahville to interesting. And then that scarf around her neck just adds some chic factor to the whole thing. It is a Tolani Reptile Snakeskin Scarf which you can buy here and it would set you back US$99
